Mindful of Tomorrow, Today
Sustainability
At the heart of what we do is an ethical and local approach to working with and protecting the environment around us. Sustainability is important to us and we work hard to make sure we leave the smallest footprint behind.
THE FOSTERS WAY
We are conscious of our responsibilities to the environment and that as a commercial business we have a duty to consider the impact and mitigate any negative outcomes.
We embody this in all aspects of the company from sourcing bio-degradable and recyclable brands to find each event’s perfect solution to having all our vehicles fitted with limiters to reduce emissions and increase fuel economy.
We also have partnered with Too Good To Go and FareShare South West to minimise food wastage at every event and venue we operate at and ensure that our food not only is enjoyed by our guests but can also make a difference for those truly in need.
SUSTAINABLE SOURCING
Our field to fork ethos is something we embody in every dish we produce. Our local food sourcing map below demonstrates for our Bristol based sites some of the fantastic suppliers and produce we use in our dishes. Showcasing the very best of the local area is something we're super passionate about and something that deserves shouting about!
You can also discover some of our wonderful independent suppliers below! We love to champion local, no matter where we are and it shines through at all of our venues.
FOOD WASTE AND LOGISTICS
Our expert operations teams work tirelessly to ensure we are always doing our best to reduce, reuse and recycle. We work with each event and contract to minimise food waste and where possible contact local food banks to donate. All our waste and recycling are looked after by Great Western Recycling who operate a 100% zero to landfill policy.
Our partnerships with Too Good To Go and FareShare South West means we really make our food go further. Too Good To Go help us reduce the waste of any pre-packaged goods from our retail sites, while FareShare South West help us with excess and unavoidable waste ingredients from larger-scale events, distributing to partner charities or directly to those in need.
COMMUNITY FOCUSSED
We work hard on giving back to the community through involvement with a range of charities and schemes. Projects like the national Food4heroes charity scheme allowed us to support and give back to those who helped us in a time of crisis. We served over 10,000 free meals to the NHS frontline during the C19 pandemic. We also champion mental health awareness, having worked with The Burnt Chef project previously, and continuing workplace training on mental health first aid to help fight the mental health stigma across the hospitality industry.
Our Suppliers
All local, home-grown, and all part of the beating heart of Fosters. We work with many incredible suppliers across the South West and they all help us create some truly unique menus.
Each month we will share some of their stories on our blog.
